Zy-Zy and Partytime

Note to Readers: Blogspot is being uncooperative so I cannot seem to re-order the pictures in a way that makes the most sense.

It's been a fun and exciting month and we are in for an exciting January too with the imminent arrival of Henry's baby sister. Here are some of the highlights of the month:

Aunt Lindsay "Zy-Zy" came for a visit!! And she brought Elmo's Christmas Countdown from Nana and it has changed Henry's life. While she was here, Henry got all dolled up and enjoyed some of the holiday activities DC has to offer including the train exhibit at the National Botanical Garden. As you can tell from the picture of him staring off with his mouth gaping open, he enjoyed the trains immensely.

Today Henry celebrated the holidays with his classmates by enjoying some healthy snacks and putting on a performance of Jingle Bells. It was quite a performance mostly comprised of Namami getting upset that she didn't have the pink bells and Amee falling and bumping her head and then erupting into tears. Henry spent the performance looking around with a look that said, "Who are these people?" Regardless, it was a good time.

We will certainly be taking more pictures and posting them as we celebrate our first Christmas and New Years in DC as a family of three or perhaps four. :) Happy Holidays!

Twas a good weekend

In DC, complete with a holiday party in Maryland. The bubble machine was an unexpected treat that made Henry's weekend. The kid loves his cowboy boots.
Thanks to Mike Panetta for snapping this shot during the weekend holiday party. If you run for D.C. Shadow Rep again, you have our vote.

Brother and Sister

Baby Girl Bowman is already getting neglected and she's not even born yet. I realized that we haven't taken any belly pictures yet so here is a shot of Henry enthusiastically hugging/smooshing his face into my belly. He knows there is a baby in there but I think he's confused because he also thinks he has a baby in his tummy. :)

After this pic we hit the Air and Space Museum (favorite thing was the escalator) and then the carousel on the National Mall. It was a little scary but he ultimately liked it and said, "Again? More horsey?"

October has come and gone

Here are a few shots from the Halloween Parade that Henry's school did with all the other World Bank day care kids. He loves his new day care, and we're thrilled with everyone there as well:

Jackson, WY

It's been forever since we've posted anything to this blog, but all is well in D.C. Henry had an amazing August that included three weeks with family in Oklahoma and eight days in Wyoming with extended family on the other side. These pictures from the trip are in reverse order for whatever reason. If you've never been to Jackson, stop reading this and book your flight today.

Here's a shot of Mt Moran taken from the east side of Jackson Lake. In the background on the far left you can see Ben Bernanke on the slalom ski. He'd just finished addressing the economic summit at Jackson Lake Lodge and was working on his barefoot skiing.

Lori & Henry on Uncle David's boat. I picked out that awesome life vest for Henry. It seemed appropriate since I knew he'd only wear it once before his little sister arrives in January 2012.

UD showing Henry how to pull a skier:

Cousin Adrienne, or as H says "A-dee-in," and I enjoying family breakfast at the Moose Chuckwagon before the big trip to Jackson Lake.

Oma was laughing at something here:

Like I said, go to Jackson immediately if you haven't done so already.

Here's Henry chewing with his mouth closed at the Mangey Moose at Teton Village.

At the top of Rendevous Bowl:

Henry getting a smooch from Tater out at Uncle Jim's house:

I hadn't been to Granite in literally 20 years, but it did not disappoint.

This is the stream that is just beneath Granite Hot Springs.

Happy 4th of July!

The Bowman family had a great 4th of July weekend. It was filled with trips to the park, lots of playing in the "wa-wa," a cookout with friends and listening to the fireworks on the National Mall from the comfort of our living room. Once the man's bedtime is a bit later, we will actually make it to the fireworks display.

P.S. Playing in boxes NEVER gets old!

Trip to Chicago, and other shenanigans

Last weekend we traveled to Chicago and met our new niece, Avery Moran, whose parents were kind enough to invite us into their home so that Henry could proceed to bonk their ten-day-old baby on the head a few times. Lori and I are accustomed to playing constant defense, so the physical violence was kept to acceptable levels. Little Avery is extremely sweet and delicate, and like her parents, has a propensity to occasionally soil her britches.

Here are a few shots from the trip. When I wasn't chasing our spirited 20-month-old tornado, I loved holding the little one:

Here we are on the train (H inaccurately calls it a "choo-choo") to Ben and Kathleen's house:

All aboard - Doors closing!

Henry, leaning in to kiss his cousin:
Then, before I jumped in to stop him, he poked her forehead:

Henry beamed after making his cousin cry for the first time:

"Did I do that?"

Bouncing his cousin in her seat - this game ended as quickly as it started:

Avery Anneliese Moran:

Am I a natural, or what?

Lori's a natural as well:

Lori's at the movies with her lady friends tonight, and Henry kept tripping on his pajama pants. I remedied that pretty easily:
